Wahey, I went ahead and signed up for another bingo that I'll probably never complete! LET'S DO THIS THING!

here be the cardCollapse )

So a couple weeks ago, at the top of February, I did dailyfics' 7-Day Challenge, wherein you have 24 hours to write around a given prompt every day for a week. Due to foolishness and idiocy, I messed up the deadline on one of the days, but they were kind enough to ignore my error of approximately 10 minutes because omg time zones, and acknowledge a win for me anyway! All the fics were for Assassin's Creed II (and also Brotherhood and Revelations.)

01 - Temptation02 - Poison03 - Remorse
04 - Tears05 - Adventure06 - Addiction
07 – Secrets

Everybody go to dailyfics and participate in whatever they have cooking up next!

When I'm not working as an assistant director - which of late is actually most of the time because it's winter and there's not a whole lot shooting in the city for this exact post-inspiring reason - I'm an assistant production coordinator. It's a pretty sweet job, coordinating a production. There's a lot of things that people don't think about that needs to be taken care of.

My boss (the production coordinator), her boss (line producer) and I (apc) are responsible for making sure that every single thing that is needed to make a TV show is in the right place at the right time and that we have enough money to afford it all.

This means paying people, hiring people, making and distributing schedules and call sheets, booking equipment, hiring people to get the equipment, renting a vehicle for people to pick up the equipment in, and a whole lot more. And usually, this process goes pretty smoothly. Once all the crew is in place, everyone has their own job and really my job becomes "oh yes, here's two hundred dollars, you go and do that thing." "Right, here's the keys to a mini-van, go get this other thing." <-- Not so tough.

And then snow storm...Collapse )

The other night I was lying on my living room floor, X-Box controller blinking at me in the darkness inches away from my clammy, outstretched hand while I attempted not to vomit all over the carpet. A killer migraine (from sitting too close to the TV) struck halfway through Assassin's Creed 2. Now there's a couple things I could have done here. One would have been to turn off the X-Box and go to bed with painkillers in hand, but ever since I was like six or seven years old, I've been in the habit of putting Phantom of the Opera on when I have a headache.

I don't know, it's some weird thing I did as a kid and still do. It doesn't really help, but focusing on the Sarah Brightman's strident voice is way better than focusing on how much pain I'm in. And bam - out like a light.

Anyway, I happened to have my iPod in hand so rather than go to bed or turn off the X-Box or go in search of a readily available morphine drip, I snatched up the 'pod and put on some Phantom. And then some Billy and then some Carousel. And all the while I was thinking, "oh hey, I should do some kind of Top 100 list of showtunes." <-- Call it migraine-induced stupidity, but I lay on the floor and I made a list of my Top 100.

And here it is!Collapse )

I'm pretty much the definition of an opinionated asshole. Now that the Oscar nominees have been announced, I'm making a point on catching up on whatever I missed and rewatching some of the things I don't remember quite so well, specifically so that I can argue about how I feel about things with other people.

So maybe let me rephrase: I'm pretty much the definition of an opinionated asshole.

Here, have some opinions.Collapse )

In other news, the Golden Globulars are this evening and these will help me redefine my opinions of who I think the Academy will have selected. (Versus who I feel should win which is uninfluenced by the Golden Globes' outcome.)

Feel free to argue with me! :D

So given my success these past few months with hurt_comfort (ahahahahaha) I figured I'd do another bingo! And actually maybe do it! I blame c00kie for doing it and alerting me to the fact that this exists.

So the Les Mis movie happened. There's nothing in this world that can make me want to talk about it in any sort of level of depth; I'd much prefer it never existed - despite the fact that there are indeed some truly lovely things that've come out of it. But I don't want to talk about it and I won't, I shan't.

I do want to talk about a recent career-related crisis.Collapse )

But you probably don't want to hear about that sort of a thing.
